The under-construction concrete bridge over the Sharda River at the end of the Rapti Highway to connect Ward No. 6 and 7 of Chhatreshwari Rural Municipality of the district has been completed in 8 years. The concrete bridge, which was stopped in the middle due to the negligence of the box contractor and the corona epidemic, was completed after the deadline was extended seven times.
The road division office, Dang, called for a contract for the construction of a concrete bridge at the end of 2073. The office had allocated a budget of around 70 million for the 70 meter long concrete bridge. SBA Surya JV was given the responsibility for the construction of the bridge. SBA Surya JV started working from June 21, 2074.
The contractor company was supposed to complete it on June 22, 2076, but after the completion of the bridge work, it has become easier for the locals to go to Chhatreshwari Rural Municipality 4 Darimjeula, Jhimpe, Kharsubas through Rapti Lokmarg. Similarly, there is no need to cross the dilapidated suspension bridge. Until two months ago, vehicles passing through the bridge, which was about one kilometer below, are now coming and going directly from the newly constructed bridge. Ujwal Kumar Jha, Information Officer of Road Division Office Dang, said that the construction company was negligent and the completion was delayed due to various complications. He informed that after the expiry of the set period, the office along with the amendment of the regulations extended the deadline seven times from June 21, 2076 to June 30, 2077, the second time to June 12, 2078, the third time to Chaitra 30, 2078 and the fourth time to May 30, 2080 and then three times to June 2081.
According to him, if the contractor who has not worked for a long time is prosecuted and the contract is broken, the work of the plan cannot go forward, it will be difficult to manage immediately and the government budget will also be wasted.
