Paragliding festival at Gutichour to explore the potential of adventure tourism

Chairman Dan Bahadur Budha said that by holding a paragliding festival in Gutichour Patan, which is next to the road connecting Jumla to Dolpa, there is an effort to spread the message as an area with potential for adventure tourism.

According to him, paragliding flight is also suitable as internal and external tourists going from Jumla to Se-Foksundo in Dolpa are passing through Gutichour Patan. For the paragliding flight, the driver and the paraglider will come from Pokhara. The festival is going to be organized to promote internal tourism and register Gutichour as a tourist area.

Nine paragliding have been flown and tested before. According to the drivers, Gutichhour is considered a suitable area for paragliding.

'This festival is expected to attract the attention of investors for commercial paragliding flights in Guchichaur,' Information Officer Prem Bahadur Shahi said, 'If investors are found, efforts will be made to start commercial flights.'

He said that there are discussions about producing paragliding drivers and purchasing the municipality's own paragliding from next year. The ticket price has been fixed at Rs 3,000 per person for inside the municipality and Rs 4,000 for outside visitors.

Information officer Shahi said that if 200 people make a booking, they are preparing to call 10 paragliding. The route for paragliding has been fixed from Daab and Lagan Danda in Gutichour. A letter has been sent to the Ministry of Civil Aviation for permission for paragliding flights.

The municipality claims that there is no air route, so the area is suitable for paragliding. To make the festival a success, discussions are ongoing with everyone from the security agencies to the political apparatus, said Budha, the chairman of the rural municipality. In addition, the rural municipality said that a volleyball competition and a Deuda song competition will also be organized on the occasion.
