The Karnali highway has been blocked for four days due to the landslides in various places. The highway has been completely blocked due to the landslides in Malachaur, Dahikhola and Kittubhir that could not be removed last Wednesday.
DSP Sunil Dahal of District Police Office said that big machines have been brought from Nepalgunj and Surkhet to clear the landslide. He said it will take another two to three days to remove the landslide on the highway. The road is damaged in Kalikot area. "Hundreds of passengers trapped in landslides have to suffer a lot," he said, "We are preparing to put the road into operation as soon as possible."
According to him, the concrete bridge along the road has been washed away . Landslides have occurred at 12 places on the highway. Due to the closure of the highway, traffic has come to a standstill in Karnali areas including Dailekh, Kalikot, Jumla.
