Dang's veteran writer Giriraj Sharma passed away on Wednesday at the age of 84.

He has been living in Bhairahawa for some time due to health problems and was admitted to Gautam Buddha Heart Hospital Butwal due to health problems. According to the hospital, he passed away at 3:30 pm on Wednesday during the treatment.

Sharma will be brought to his residence in Ghorahi sub-metropolis-18 Masina and will be buried on Thursday morning. He has four daughters and one son.

Sharma, who has played a leading role in Nepal's progressive literary movement and literary organization, has published more than a dozen works. He is also a retired teacher. Sharma was born on 15th June 1997 . His wife Parvati Sharma Paudel passed away on 9th Chait 2077.

Various organizations have expressed grief over the death of Giriraj, father of former minister Rekha Sharma. Chairman of Sarvodaya Library and Reading Room, Sushil Gautam, issued a condolence statement and said that he was saddened by the death of Sharma, who contributed significantly to the educational, literary and social transformation of Dang.
