A discussion will be held in the subject committee of the Provincial Assembly for the amendment of the Civil Service Act of Lumbini Province. The 33rd meeting of the fourth session of the Provincial Assembly held on Sunday passed a resolution to send the bill to amend the Provincial Civil Service Act 2080 to the Provincial Affairs and Law Committee for quarterly discussion.
In the meeting, Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Bhumishwar Dhakal made a proposal for quarterly discussion on the amendment bill. The proposal to send the bill presented by Speaker Tularam Gharti to the State Affairs and Law Committee for quarterly discussion was passed unanimously. According to
sources, the bill with the report is ready to be submitted to the state assembly for discussion on Monday. Exactly one year after the law was passed by the provincial assembly, the government is preparing to amend it. The decision to submit the bill to the Provincial Assembly to amend the Act to make provisions regarding the formation, operation and conditions of service of the Provincial Civil Service was passed by the Lumbini Council of Ministers meeting last Monday.
On 22 June 2080, the government submitted the Civil Bill. The provincial assembly passed the report with the discussion of the subject committee and the suggestions of stakeholders on 22 August 2080. Three months after it was passed by the provincial assembly, provincial chief Amik Sherchan certified it on November 21. Although the government passed the bill with the suggestions of the stakeholders, the employee unions, organizations and groups were protesting about some of the clauses and sub-clauses mentioned in it.
During the special time of the meeting of the provincial assembly on Monday, the members of the provincial assembly asked to correct the decision saying that the decision to build projects of more than 5 lakhs by the provincial government only through the contract process is immature. He also drew the attention of the government on various issues. The next meeting of the state assembly will be held on Monday at 1 pm.
