Babai's water level nears danger, urges to be alert

As the Babai river began to flow closer to the danger mark, the local administration has asked the residents of the coastal areas to be on high alert.
Due to continuous rain since Wednesday night, the water level of Babai river is flowing above 5.25 meters till 6 am on Friday morning.
As soon as 6.80 meters are reached in Babai, villages are considered to be at risk of flooding. Chief District Officer Rudradevi Sharma said that the residents of Babai coastal area have been alerted to avoid floods. "There is a high risk as the rain has not stopped in Bardiya including hilly districts," she said, "all security agencies have been kept on high alert keeping in mind the possibility of flooding." In Karnali, water is flowing above 8 meters till 6 am. In Karnali, water flowing above 10 meters is considered as a flood hazard. Residents of the coastal areas have been alerted to the risk of rising water levels in Karnali due to the rain falling in the hilly areas. Meanwhile, the local administration has warned the locals not to fish and collect firewood in the river.
