Umeshchandra Yadav, president of Pratappur Rural Municipality of West Nawalparasi, has gone on a fast because of the delay in the plans of the postal road, union and state governments within Pratappur Rural Municipality.

Earlier, he had staged a sit-in at the postal and district administration offices to the Union Government to immediately complete the unfinished work of the federal postal road, and started a relay hunger strike from Tuesday saying that his demands had not been met.

Under the leadership of the president, the ward presidents and people's representatives of the rural municipality are on a joint hunger strike. Constituent Assembly member Bikram Khanal also participated in the fast. Umeshchandra Yadav, President of Pratappur Rural Municipality, said that he is on a relay fast in front of the local administration office and will continue his hunger strike until the 27th.

After the postal road of 6.5 kilometers from Gopiganj to Belatari was not completed even after 6 years, representatives of political parties active in the district under the leadership of Umeshchandra Yadav, president of Pratappur rural municipality, staged a demonstration and sit-in on Sunday was given.

Due to the pits dug during the construction of the road, dust in winter and mud in rains cause accidents on a daily basis. Locals here have been complaining that the work has not progressed despite repeated coordination with the contractor company Bajraguru Mahalakshmi and Hulaki Road Directorate.

The road that should be completed in 2079 has not yet been completed. Due to which the locals have to travel at risk.
