Bensisahar-Dumre road, which was blocked after a landslide in Udipur of Lamjung, has been opened after about 7 hours. A new landslide started flowing along the landslide control point of Benisahar Municipality 1, Udipur, blocking the road from time to time.
According to the police, the blocked road was opened after 11:30 pm on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 pm. According to DSP Min Bahadur Ghale, the head of the district police office, the road has been put into operation after about 7 hours. The police and traffic police were deployed under the leadership of police inspector Chonu Gurung of Bhoteodar area police office to open the road.
Similarly, the police have also removed the Gegran piled up by the flood in the Udipur market. Floods and landslides accompanied by incessant rain have damaged the road from Udipur towards Bensi Sahar. The police said that after the removal of the landslide and the removal of the granaries piled up in the market, the traffic was resumed at 12 midnight.
As the road was blocked, the vehicles coming from the capital Kathmandu, provincial capital Pokhara as well as Chitwan to the Lamjung headquarters Bensisahar were stopped at Udipur market since afternoon. The vehicles coming out of Bensi Sahar were also stopped near the landslide. The police said that the vehicles were moving towards their destination after the road was opened.
Residents of Lamjung have demanded that the road be constructed elsewhere instead of the Udipur road to facilitate travel.
