More than 300 families are at risk due to erosion of Narayani river

Nandpur, Sitapur and Dhajah settlements under Madhyabindu municipality are at risk due to erosion of Narayani river. The dam built for river control at Balghatta of Madhyabindu Municipality-2 was destroyed by Sunday's flood.
Rambhakta Adhikari, Ward President of 2, informed that the river has dropped a dam more than 100 meters 150 meters south-west of Balghatta. There are more than 300 houses in this settlement of Madhyabindu. Bhimalal Adhikari, head of Madhyabindu Municipality, said that if the river erodes the coastal area at this rate, there is a risk that the river will change.
He says, 'If the flow of the river continues to rise and erosion does not stop, the entire settlements in the river coastal area of Madhyabindu Municipality-4, 6 and 15 along with Nandpur, Sitapur, Dhajah settlements will be at risk.'
The flood of 2058 washed away Dhajah settlement. At that time, 102 families who were homeless are now forced to live in different places of Madhyabindu Municipality-6 and 7 in a disorderly manner.
According to locals, there is a risk that the settlements of Nandpur, Sitapur, Sehri, Dhajah and others will turn into islands if the river changes its direction from the area currently eroded by the river.
