The body of one of the two Spanish tourists missing since Sunday has been found in Annapurna Rural Municipality of Kaski. Erik Casanovas (male) and Molas Junka Mesi (female) were lost on their way from Annapurna rural municipality-9 Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani via Ulleri on Sunday.

Kaski Police Spokesperson DSP Vasant Kumar Sharma said that the body of Erik was found covered with sand in Bhurungdi river on Tuesday. He said that the woman is being searched by the police, tourist police and armed police diving team from Veerethanti police office.

According to Yam Bahadur Gurung, Veerethanti Checkpost in-charge of Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), they registered to go to Ghorepani Padayatra at 10:21 am on Sunday morning. To reach Ghorepani, they left the road and chose the old walking route. On that road, near the waterfall of Bhurungdi River, the locals found two bags in an abandoned state on Sunday evening.

On Monday, it was suspected that the tourists might have been washed away by the Bhurungdi river, but the situation could not be found despite searching all day long. He said, "There is a beautiful cliff on the road near where the tourist's bag was found. People's representatives, police and others may have fallen into the river while taking photos." On Monday, while searching for the whole day, the local residents found a lorry that they had taken while going on a walk near the waterfall.

On Tuesday, a team of 5 divers from Armed Police Force Kalika Gana Malepatan, police from Veerethanti Police Station, and local residents found the body of a male tourist. The police said that the search for the female tourist is continuing.
