Electric ovens have been distributed to the residents of Lomanthang, an ancient settlement located on the top of Himalpari.  In order to reduce the cost of LP gas for cooking, Lomanthang Rural Municipality has distributed electric stoves to 210 households in Ward No. 3 Fuwa and Ward No. 4 Kimling in the first phase.

In the villages of Lomanthang, traditional fuel Guintha (an item made by drying cow dung) is still in vogue for cooking. Not only the traditional Guintha, but LP gas for cooking is more expensive, so we have started to introduce electric stoves as an alternative,'' Lomanthang Rural Municipality Vice President Chhayumi Bista Gurung said, 'We have distributed electric stoves with 100% subsidy from the Municipality as it is much cheaper than gas. In the second lot, we will distribute to the rest of the villagers.'

Lomanthang Rural Municipality has stated that since it is expensive to transport LP gas from Pokhara to Lomanthang settlements, as an alternative, electric stoves (infrared) that can be used to cook food using all the utensils in the village have been distributed. .

When the rural municipality bought it from Kathmandu and delivered it to Lomanthang, the price of the anti-electric infrared stove was Rs 3,550. The village office has also informed that stoves will be distributed to 340 households in the remaining wards 1-3 of the municipality within the current financial year.

'LP gas for cooking in Lomanthang costs three thousand per cylinder on average . It reaches 3,500 when transportation is blocked on the road below. Consumers suffered because that too was not available on time . Therefore, since all the houses have central electrification, we have chosen electric stoves because the electricity is regular on average," said Jeevan Paudel, chief administrative officer of Lomanthang Rural Municipality, "the municipality has provided electric stoves with 100% subsidy. It is about to be purchased and distributed.'

Most of the houses in Lomanthang use solar heaters powered by solar energy plants to heat water, use them in toilets and bathrooms, in addition to cooking. Solar electricity is used as a power back in the village office, schools, police station, government office, big hotels.
