A young man has gone missing after being swept away by the Bakiya river in the eastern area of Makwanpur. Akal Majhi, a 28-year-old resident of Paurai rural municipality-2 in Rautahat district, was on his way to his in-laws when the river overflowed, police said.

Majhi, who was working at Fasttrack located in Makwanpur Bakaiya Rural Municipality-6, Jaspal, went to his in-laws at 2 pm on Friday. Lakshmi Bhandari, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Makwanpur, said that he was swept away by the flood while crossing the Bakaiya river to go to Juina-6 Juina and has not been found yet.
