The Wagmati state government has formed a study committee to widen the 'rate and scope' of taxes. The Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning of the State Government, Kundanraj Kafle said that the internal income of the government is extremely weak and he is going to conduct a campaign to increase the rate and scope to increase revenue collection.

Minister Kafle has formed a revenue study committee of the province to implement the provisions of the Economic Act 2081 to increase the internal income of the government. Secretary of the Ministry Krishna Mainali is the coordinator of the committee.

The committee consists of the head of budget planning and program division of the ministry, the head of administration division, the head of revenue and finance management division, the head of economic analysis and financial sector management division, the legal officer of the ministry and two experts nominated by the ministry who have experience in the revenue sector. ; In the

committee, the officer of revenue management branch has been assigned the responsibility of member secretary. The committee will make suggestions to the ministry on how to fully implement the current financial law and harmonize the financial law for the financial year.

'This year's financial law cannot be changed. We have formed a committee keeping in mind the economic law of the coming year,' Minister Kafle said, 'This committee will identify the taxes specified in the economic law, find out the reason for the decrease in the revenue collected from the local level and make suggestions on the policy reform decisions to be made by the ministry in the coming days.'

While the provincial government is bringing a big budget every year, there has been no significant increase in revenue collection. Because of which, the situation is creating problems in the implementation of the budget .

Especially in the province, real estate registration 'Malpot' and vehicle tax are considered to be the main sources of revenue collection of the provincial government . According to the statistics of the Ministry, it was estimated that 14 billion revenue would be collected from both titles in the financial year 2081/82, but only 11.6 billion 76 lakh 50 thousand revenue was collected.

The state government has brought a budget worth about 64 billion 54 crore rupees in the current financial year. Of which about 27 billion 58 crore rupees is mentioned as a source of expenditure from collection from internal sources. Which is almost 2 billion rupees more than what was collected last time. In the past, 25 billion 50 crores of revenue was collected from internal sources . Which is less than half of the total budget .

Increase in revenue collection

There has been an increase in revenue collection in the Wagmati Pradesh government. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, revenue collection has increased by 4.72 percent in the financial year 080/81 compared to the last financial year 079/80.

According to the data of the Ministry, 25 billion 50 million 42 million were collected in the financial year 080/81. The government collected 24.35 billion 42 million revenue in the financial year 079/80 and managed to collect more than 1 billion 150 million revenue in the financial year 080/81.

Hariprasad Upadhyay, Head of State Treasury and Controller of Accounts Office informed that the revenue has been collected according to the target. There has been some reduction in real estate registration, property tax and vehicle tax. Due to financial liquidity, although the revenue collection in real estate and new vehicle purchase and sale business is not as expected, the increase of 4.72 percent compared to the last financial year is satisfactory, he said .
