The dozer has run over private structures that are public lands of community forests. On Saturday, a dozer was driven over the structure on the land of Jobaha Community Forest located in Naraha Rural Municipality-3. For more than 30 years, some people have been occupying the land on the south side of the Nepal Army barracks, which is connected to the East-West Highway, and have been building houses and running hotels.

There were frequent protests saying that the forest land was being encroached on under the guise of political power. However, the land, which has not been cleared for a long time, has been cleared by the Shaniwar Division Forest Office by demolishing the structures.

According to Sujit Kumar Jha, Head of Division Forest Office, Siraha, 9 houses of 7 people in 2 hectares area have been demolished. The office had issued a 15-day notice to vacate the land on June 13. They did not vacate the land even after the deadline of the notification . Even after the expiry of the notice period, the locals had blocked the highway in Choharwa on Friday afternoon saying that the administration had backed down to free the encroachment on the land.

Locals alleged that the forest office backed down under the pressure of Chief District Officer Basudev Dahal. Chief of the Division Forest Office J has also admitted that he was uncooperative in various ways while trying to make the public land free from encroachment. "When we move forward for forest protection and forest land encroachment, all the offices are against us," Jha said in a conversation with Kantipur, "but the encroachment here has been removed today, we are happy," he added. Let's move forward in the same way. According to Joba Natural Community Forest Committee, about 7 bigha of public land has been encroached upon. Out of which, Maruti Cement Industry has encroached about 4 bigha of land and built a structure. Against this, the locals also held a long protest in August 2077, demanding the return of land.

The then Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Lal Babu Raut himself came here after the locals started a protest by blocking the East-West Highway. He came on August 29, 2077 and said that soon the land will be free from encroachment. Although he instructed the concerned agencies to return the encroached land immediately, it has not yet been returned.
