Illegal clothes worth more than 30 million have been seized from a garment warehouse in Siraha. Smuggled clothes were recovered from a cloth godown located in Ganesh Chowk, Lahan Municipality-8. District Police Office, Lahan Chief and DSP Bishnuprasad Soti said that the illegal clothes were recovered from the fancy ready-made store operated by Parbez Alam of the same place.
Police reached the warehouse at 12 noon on Thursday based on a tip-off that revenue evasion clothing illegally smuggled from India was in the warehouse. After it was confirmed, the police immediately took control of the warehouse.
Police immediately informed Internal Revenue Office Lahan, Revenue Investigation Office Itahari, Thadi Customs Office. DSP Soti said that after a while, a team from Revenue Investigation Office Itahari collected the bond and sealed the godown.
According to DSP Soti, illegal clothes of different brands of revenue evasion were found in 6 rooms, passageways and verandas inside the warehouse and it is estimated that it is more than 30 million. He said that the warehouse has been sealed and further investigation is underway.
