The hearing of the main road extension case of Birganj Metropolitan City, which is under consideration in the Supreme Court, has been postponed for the 24th time on Sunday.

The hearing was scheduled on Sunday in the case filed regarding the extension of the main road under the Tribhuvan Rajpath from Gandak Chowk in Birganj to Miteripul at the checkpoint via Power House, Hantghar, Maisthan Chowk, Adarshnagar, Rajatjayanti Chowk. But the hearing of the case was postponed for the 24th time after the Supreme Court ruled that the case should not be heard again.

The hearing of the main road extension case of Birganj was held on Sunday in the joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Manoj Kumar Sharma and Sharanga Subedi. Spokesperson of the Supreme Court, Ved Prakash Upreti, informed that the hearing of the case on Friday was continued in the said court, even though the case of Birganj main road was number 1, it was not sent to be heard.

Road Division Office Hetaunda and Commercial Road Expansion Project Office started preparations for road expansion after the Chhath festival in 2076. Before that, the 15-day notice issued in August 2076 had expired, but the project office had given another deadline and asked the landlord to demolish his house by himself.

The road expansion project has also completed one phase of measuring work. The house owner living on Main Road Right/Left has filed a case in the Supreme Court demanding compensation . Laxman Sah Rauniar, Rajkumari Devi Tulsyan, Bharat Prasad Rauniar and Birendra Kumar Sanghai have filed the case.

The issue of whether the road will be expanded or not has not been resolved, the house owners on the right/left side of the road have not even done house painting and maintenance for a long time . Even during the festival, the houses along the Tribhuvan highway have stopped being painted, which makes the city look ugly. Problems have also appeared in traffic management. Madhesh's only metropolitan city has become chaotic due to increasing population and traffic.
