Santosh Rai in Top 13 of World Championship Long Distance Triathlon

In the triathlon competition consisting of 3 km swimming, 114 km bike ride (cycling) and 30 km running, Rai managed to come 13th out of 19 competitors.

Santosh Karmacharya, who lives in America along with Rai, represented Nepal in the competition. Nepal Triathlon Association selected Santoshadway to represent Nepal for the first time in the competition. Rai and Karmacharya showed their dedication to the game and successfully completed the race despite facing many challenges including equipment problems and other logistical obstacles.

"This achievement in the international triathlon competition is an important milestone for the sports of Nepal and for me", Rai said. During the

competition, South Asia Triathlon gold medalist Soni Gurung was also present and encouraged the Nepalese athletes.

Santosh Rai was told by NRNA UK, NBC UK, Physiotherapist Saroj Gurung and President of Nepal Triathlon and General Secretary of Olympic Committee Nilendra Shrestha provided necessary support to complete the race.

Santosh Rai, who started running since 2009, is the first Nepali to complete 6 flower marathons in the world like London, Berlin, New York, Chicago, Boston, Tokyo.

Rai, who completed the world-famous marathon in two years, is the founder of Nepal Run UK. The

Triathlon Multisport World Championships Townsville was a 12-day event featuring 19 world championship races across five different levels, including age groups, paratriathletes, juniors, under-23s and elites.

3,000 contestants representing more than 40 countries around the world participated in this competition.
