The 6-day 8th China-South Asia Fair has started from Tuesday in Khunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province, China. 82 countries, regions and international organizations have participated in this fair and the number of industries and businesses is more than 2 thousand.

More than 120 stalls have been placed on behalf of Nepal in the fair. This expo, which was held offline during the Covid epidemic, usually has high-level representation from Nepal. The Vice President of Nepal participated in the previous expo.

Three Secretaries of the Government of Nepal along with Bimala Ghimire, the Vice President of the National Assembly, have participated in this expo. Ambassador Bishnupukar Shrestha from Beijing participated in the opening ceremony, which was also attended by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Education and Communication.

On Sunday, Liu Xiaokai, chairman of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, welcomed the Nepalese delegation to Khunming to participate in the 8th China-South Asia Exhibition and the 5th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum.

At that time, he said that under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, with Xi Jinping at the center, Yunnan has actively promoted high-level openness, providing new opportunities for regional development. He said, "We hope to continue mutual visits at all levels, build more platforms for friendly exchanges, deepen and expand cooperation in various fields, and strive to achieve win-win cooperation."

In response, Vice President Ghimire highly praised the friendly relations between Nepal and China and expressed the hope that Nepal and Yunnan will strengthen exchanges and cooperation, promote mutual benefits and further development of bilateral trade. Anuparanjan Bhattarai, Chairman of the Nepal-China Executive Council, informed that Nepal-China Executive Council's items, including Buddha statues, singing bowls, pashmina materials, thankas, etc., were placed on behalf of Nepal at the Expo.

In this expo covering all South Asian countries, this time Pakistan has become the theme country. Among the 5 major fairs organized by the Chinese government throughout the year, this fair aimed at South Asia has also been taken.
