Kathmandu has won the title of the third Rotary Makwanpur Pipley-Campa National Veterans Football Tournament. The Freedom Fighters Veterans team representing Kathmandu defeated the eastern club Jhapa by 3-2 goals. Freedom got a trophy with 2 lakh 2 thousand 222 rupees and Purveli got 1 lakh 1 thousand 111 rupees.

In the third minute of the final at Piplecampa Stadium, Freedom took the lead with a goal by Neelendra Dewan. He added a goal in the 20th minute to double the lead. Vikarn Shrestha added the third goal for the team in the 37th minute. After that, Purveli scored two goals in the second half and showed a chance to come back to the game, but in the end, they were satisfied with the runner-up. Mitra Basnet from Purveli scored in the 40th minute and Ramesh Gurung in the 43rd minute.

Neelendra Dewan was adjudged the best player and man of the match. Best striker Vikarna Shrestha, midfielder Raju Tamang, defender Rajkumar Ghisingh, goalkeeper Sanjiv Khadgi and coach Suraj Shrestha were selected. The best player got Rs 10,000 and the category best got Rs 5,000.

15 teams participated in veterans football organized by Pipley Yuva Club and in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Makwanpur. The first and second editions were won by Chitwan Veterans. Rotary president Anil Agarwal, Wagmati Pradesh Sports Development Council member secretary Deepak Lama and others awarded the winning players.
