The Wagmati state government is going to honor Palesha Govardhan, who won a medal in the Paris Para Olympics, with 1 million rupees. On the occasion of Constitution Day, bronze medalist Palesha will be honored with a bazaar parikrama in Hetaunda on October 3.
According to Deepak Lama, Member Secretary of Provincial Sports Development Council, Erika Gurung, who won a historic silver medal for Nepal in karate at the 19th Asian Games with Palesha, will be honored with 5 lakhs. 3 lakhs will be given to Palesha's coach Kaviraj Negi and 3 lakhs will be given to Nepal Taekwondo Association Wagmati Province Committee, member secretary Lama said.
Erika won a historic silver in the women's 68 kg weight category at Asiad. The state government is going to provide Rs 1 lakh to his coach Kushal Shrestha and Rs 2 lakh to the Wagmati State Committee of the Nepal Karate Federation. The Nepali karate team including Erica and Kushal has now reached China to play in the Asian Championship.
Although the provincial government tried to decide on this issue from the previous meeting of the cabinet, due to legal complications, the award is going to be announced and distributed with some delay. "We have already prepared to honor the players and coaches," member secretary Lama said. He said that this is how the province will honor the players who have brought success to Nepal at the international level.
