Kathmandu has won the title of the third Rotary Makwanpur Pipley-Campa National Veterans Football Tournament.

The Freedom Fighters Veterans team representing Kathmandu defeated the eastern club Jhapa by 3-2 and became the champion of the tournament. Successfully winning the title, Kathmandu has received 2 lakh 2 thousand 222 rupees. Runner-up Jhapa got a trophy, medal and certificate along with 1 lakh 1 thousand 111 rupees.

Kathmandu took the lead in the third minute of the final match at People Camp Stadium located in Hetaunda-5 through Nilendra Dewan's goal. In the 20th minute, Dewan doubled the lead. Vikarn Shrestha scored the third goal for Kathmandu in the 37th minute. Trailing by 3 goals, Jhapa showed the possibility of coming back to the game by scoring 2 goals in the second half, but finally had to settle for the runner-up. On behalf of Jhapa, Mitra Basnet scored in the 40th minute and Ramesh Gurung scored in the 43rd minute. Kathmandu captured the best player of the category along with the best of the

competition. Nilendra Dewan was declared the best player and man of the match. The best striker Vikarna Shrestha, midfielder Raju Tamang, defender Rajkumar Ghising, goalkeeper Sanjiv Khadki and coach Suraj Shrestha were declared the best. The best player received Rs 10,000 in cash while the category-wise best player received Rs 5,000 in cash.

Rotary president Anil Agarwal, Wagmati Province Sports Development Council Member Secretary Deepak Lama, National and International Sports Association President Deepak Shrestha, tournament coordinator Mohan Dhakal and others distributed prizes to the winners, runners-up and the best athletes in each category.

15 teams from Nepal participated in veterans football organized by Pipley Yuva Club and in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Makwanpur. Chitwan Veterans won the title of the first and second edition of this competition.
