  • The light of hope and determination you have revealed to the world the immense talent of Nepali athletes. - Virginie Courteval, French Ambassador

In honor of Palesha Govardhan, who won a medal at the Paris Para Olympics, the French Embassy organized an honor program on Monday. The newly appointed ambassador of France to Nepal, Virginie Corteval, congratulated Palesha on winning the bronze medal at the Para Olympics in Paris and discussed her success as extraordinary.

On August 30 in Paris, Taekwondo player Palesha defeated the Serbian player in the bronze medal match and gave Nepal a historic success. Recalling that Assistant Ambassador Ilsa Cali welcomed Palesha at the airport when she returned to Kathmandu after winning a medal, Ambassador Kortval said that she was getting all the information from social media.

Kortaval, who was the assistant ambassador from 2012 to 2015, came to Kathmandu two weeks ago as the ambassador of France to Nepal. Kortaval said about Palesha, 'You are a beacon of hope and determination. Your journey reflects the courage to dream and overcome challenges. You have revealed the immense talent of Nepalese athletes to the world.' Palesha said that she was able to win the medal because of the support she received in Paris, the atmosphere there and the high morale of the Nepali team.

President of Nepal Taekwondo Association Prakash Shamsher Rana informed that the association is trying to produce players like Palesha in the future. National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanklal Ghising and Nepal Olympic Committee General Secretary Nilendraraj Shrestha along with athletes from Nepal who played Paris Olympics and Paris Para Olympics participated in the event.

After winning a medal from the Paris Para Olympics, Palesha, who has been busy with honors, is going to China after three days. Palesha, who is studying architectural engineering, came on leave for the Olympics.
