Women's Ballon d'Or winner Aitana Bonmati on Monday signed a new contract with Barcelona until 2028.
The 26-year-old Spanish playmaker Bonmati scored in the Champions League final last season. Under his influence, the Catalan team defended the title with a sensational performance. They beat Lyon 2-0 in the final in Bilbao. Barcelona said in a statement, "The best player in the world stays at the winning club."
Bonmati has scored 96 goals in 275 games for Barcelona. She has scored 22 goals in the Champions League. He is tied for the record for most goals with two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putelas.
Bonmati joined the club in 2011 through Barcelona's youth academy and is a member of the 2023 World Cup-winning Spanish team.
