To increase the cricket craze in Madhesh, Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh has started discussions with officials of the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) for the Madhesh Premier League (MPL). Preparations are being made to organize the Madhesh Premier League in view of the popularity and reputation of the cricket game and its professionalism.
Chief Minister's Press Adviser Anil Karna informed that a discussion was held between Chief Minister Singh and CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand for the MPL project in Madhesh Province. In the presence of Engineer Deepak Kumar Sah, Vice President of Janamat Party and Roshan Singh, Vice President of CAN, Chief Minister Singh and CAN President Chand met as soon as possible. Karna said that it was agreed that the MPL would be organized.
'There has been a discussion between the chief minister and CAN officials about the nature and financial structure of the MPL,' said Karn, the press advisor of the chief minister, '5 teams will play in the MPL and each team will have up to 2 'A' level players participating.' He informed that it has been decided that the players will stay in Madhesh province.
Like other Premier League, the selection of players for MPL will be through competitive bidding. Chief Minister Singh said that MPL will increase the quality of cricket game, level of entertainment and economic contribution. He also expressed his belief that the league will help the financial security of the players, qualitative growth in tourism and hospitality and the economy of the province. He informed that since the basic matters about MPL have been settled, it will be organized soon.
