The National Sports Council (Rakhep) has awarded 19th Asian Games silver medalist Erika Gurung of karate and Olympian of table tennis Santu Shrestha as Senior Player of the Year.

On the occasion of Rakhep's 61st anniversary on Wednesday at the Army Officers Club, Erica in senior women and Santu in men were honored. Both were awarded with Rs. While Erica won a historic silver in last year's Asian Games, Santu won the South Asian qualifying tournament and played in the Paris Olympics.

Dipesh Kandel of cricket in men and Devik Kumari Dhami of athletics in women were honored. Both were awarded a trophy with 50,000.

The para athlete honor went to Palesha Gowardharn, who won the fourth Para Asian Games bronze medal in Hangzhou, China. Palesha, who recently won a historic bronze medal at the Paris Para Olympics, was honored with 50,000.

On the same occasion, Rakhepale Palesha's coach Kaviraj Negi Lama along with parents Manita and Pradeep were also honored with certificates of appreciation. Honoring Palesha and her parents, Prime Minister KP Oli informed that the government will provide 65 lakh rupees to Palesha, who won a historic bronze in the Para Olympics, and that no tax will be levied on it.

All Nepal Kabaddi Association and Nepal Taekwondo Association received the honor as Association of the Year. Coach Kushal Shrestha won the contract coach award. Karate coach Shrestha received a trophy with 10,000 rupees in cash. Anil Mall Thakuri of Citizen and Namita Dahal of Online Khabar were honored with the award for sports journalists. On the occasion of the

anniversary, the best technical and administrative staff were honored. The best council service award went to Kabaddi coach Vishnudatta Bhatt. Kabaddi won a bronze medal in Asiad. Hira Prasad Poudel was honored on behalf of the administration. Both were honored with 25 thousand rupees. Rajendra Kapali, Table Tennis Chief Coach, was honored with Rs. Balaram Lama of taekwondo and Durgadevi Basnet were honored in the administrative category in the

Parishad Service Award. Both were honored with 10,000. Krishnahari Ghimire was honored with 10,000 on behalf of the employees in the agreement. Nepal Karate Federation was honored in the best sports association, Ghodaghodi Municipality (Kailali) in the best local level and Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd. in the sponsor.

On the same occasion, Rakhep also honored its former members-Secretary Jeevanram Shrestha, Haribabu Chaudhary, Yuvraj Lama and Ramesh Silwal. Other member secretaries were not present in the program.

They were presented certificates of appreciation by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Minister of Youth and Sports, Rakhep Member Secretary Tanklal Ghising, Ministry Secretary Sumanraj Aryal and others. Parishad Seva Medal was awarded to 236 employees who completed 20 years of service in Rakhep. Rakhep has been celebrating the day of the promulgation of the first Sports Act on 13 August 2021 as its anniversary.
