The two-time champion Nepal started the SAFF U-20 Championship on Sunday with a win. Nepal defeated Sri Lanka 1-0 in Group A match at ANFA complex in Satdobato.
After this victory, Nepal's semi-final entry has been strengthened. Nepal has three points while Sri Lanka has zero points. Now Nepal will face Bangladesh in the last match of their league on Thursday.
Neerajan Dhami's goal in the 24th minute was decisive in Nepal's victory. Sri Lanka could not weave a strong attack against Nepal during the entire game. Nepal missed two strong opportunities. 
Sameer Tamang missed both those opportunities. Both of his shots from near the post went wide. Even though Neeraj's shot at the beginning of the game took the direction of the post, it remained offside. The
happened in a post he made towards the end of the game. Defending champions India and Bhutan will play in Group B on Monday.
