Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem won gold in men's javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Thursday. This is the first time in Olympic history that Pakistan has won gold in the individual category.

Nadeem threw 92.97 meters while setting an Olympic record. India's Niraj Chopra finished second with a throw of 89.45 meters. The Pakistani athlete is also the champion of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

It is the first time in 40 years that Pakistan has won gold in the Olympics. Earlier, Pakistan won gold medals in men's hockey in 1960, 1968 and 1984. In the individual category, Pakistan won bronze in 1960 in wrestling and in 1988 in boxing. The United States tops the overall medal table of the

event with 30 gold, 38 silver and 35 bronze. China is second with 29 gold, 25 silver and 19 bronze. In the third place, Australia has 18 gold, 14 silver and 13 bronze.
