New Zealand has been eliminated from the group stage after securing a place in Afghanistan Super-eight by defeating Papua New Guinea. Afghanistan and West Indies from group 'C' have entered the next stage after collecting 6 points from 3 matches.
If Afghanistan had been defeated in the match between Afghanistan and Papua New Guinea, there would have been little hope of New Zealand going to the next stage. New Zealand has lost both the matches played so far. New Zealand lost to Afghanistan by 84 runs in the first match and West Indies in the second match by 13 runs.
New Zealand was bowled out by Afghanistan for 75 runs in the first match. New Zealand will now play Uganda on Saturday and Papua New Guinea on Monday. New Zealand is at the bottom of the group 'C' table. This is the first time that New Zealand has been eliminated from the group stage of the Twenty20 World Cup.
