The electricity service of Bajhang, which has been interrupted for five days, has not yet been restored. With the interruption of electricity, there has also been a shortage of drinking water in the headquarters of Chainpur.
On Wednesday, electricity service was disrupted after a landslide near Tamail in Jayaprithvi municipality damaged a pole. Even after five days, essential services have started to be affected as they have not resumed. Due to the lack of electricity, the motor for drawing water could not be operated, so there was a shortage of drinking water in the headquarters of Chainpur.
The Chainpur Urban Water Supply Project, which has been drawing water from the Seti River by motor and distributing it to households, has said that it could not distribute water due to lack of electricity. Locals have been forced to drink polluted water from Seti River and Bahuligad River after the water stopped flowing in the stream.
Nepal Electricity Authority's Bajhang distribution center has informed that two poles fell in Balumare of Baitadi after repairing the electricity poles and wires damaged by the landslide in Tamail and another pole was damaged by the landslide in Baluwatar of Chabis Pathivera rural municipality on Sunday morning.
Due to lack of electricity, even mobile phones cannot be charged, the communication links of the locals have also been cut off, and problems have started to arise in offices and household work, from closed businesses. Hotel, meat shop and dairy business owners are more upset due to the long absence of electricity. Due to the lack of electricity, most of the meat shops are facing losses as they cannot store the unsold meat. Similarly, dairy operators have said that there is a problem in storing milk products.
The grill industry, Kutani Pisani mill, furniture industry, bakery industry have stopped due to power outage. Ram Kunwar, an employee of the distribution center, said, "New poles are being dug and wires are being laid in the places damaged by the landslides. This problem has arisen due to the damage caused by landslides in one place after another. It is hoped that the electricity will be restored by Sunday evening.''
