A Nepali man has died in a landslide near Sonprayag in Uttarakhand, India. According to the Indian newspaper Amar Ujala, 70-year-old Titlidevi Mandal died in a landslide that came with heavy rain on Monday evening.
5 people died in a landslide near Sonprayag on the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund road late in the evening. In which 4 are Indian citizens. They fell into a landslide while returning from visiting Kedarnath. 3 people who were affected by the landslide have been rescued. One of them is a Nepali. The dead bodies of all five people have been removed from the landslide and taken to the hospital for post-mortem.
About two weeks ago, there was heavy rain in the area. At that time, 150 meters of road near Sonprayag were swept away by a landslide. Pedestrian access has been closed in the area. According to Amar Ujala, on Monday too, due to the forecast of heavy rain, there was a ban in the area. However, the accident happened when the pilgrims were coming and going.
The Nepali Embassy in Delhi has received news that one person died in the landslide, but the full details could not be received. Embassy Counselor Uma Prasad Chartuvedi said that 5 people died in the landslide and 1 Nepali was also injured.
Just two weeks ago, 4 Nepalese workers died in a landslide at a place called Fata Helipad near Kedarnath.
