Equipment connected to Nepal Telecom in Sigas Rural Municipality-1 Jukepani of Baitadi has been vandalized. The telecom tower, located at a distance of 3 hours' walk from the local Gajari market, was vandalized.
According to the ward chairman of Sigas rural municipality-1, Ramchandra Airi, the tower of Nepal Telecom was vandalized by an unknown group.
The group vandalized separate batteries, wires and solar panels kept for the purpose of Agricultural Development Bank in the tower of Nepal Telecom and also damaged the cables of Nepal Telecom. He informed the police about the damage and went to the area where the tower is now.
The manager of Krishi Bikas Bank Gajari Branch, Sudeep Chand, informed that a separate battery kept for bank purposes in the control room of the telecom tower and Solarpata was vandalized. He said that the separate battery and solar kept by the bank for separate power supply for the bank purpose in the tower, which runs through solar, were vandalized and made it non-functional.
Krishi Bikas Bank's server equipment placed in the tower has also been vandalized . After the internet was not working in the bank from 15th of August, the staff of the bank went to see the tower and found the tower vandalized . According to the bank, the Krishi Bikas Bank in Ghaziri was unable to provide services after the internet was down.
Police Inspector Khemvikram KC of District Police Office Baitadi informed that the police team was going to the scene on Wednesday morning because of the information about the damage to the tower. The police said that they are looking for the person or group who vandalized the tower .
