Police arrested a young man from Kailali with 21 iPhones from Dhangadhi Airport on Monday. According to the police, the price of iPhones of different models is around 8.5 lakh rupees.
Chief District Officer Dharmendra Kumar Mishra said that 27-year-old Raju Chaudhary of Ghodaghodi Municipality-1 Sukhad of Kailali was arrested with 21 iPhones while he was about to be sent to Kathmandu airport.
Prazia Mishra said that while entering through the passenger entrance of Chowdhury Airport, the mobile phone was found during baggage check in the X-ray machine there.
Kailali district police office spokesman Kabindrasingh Bohra said that since the iPhones that Chaudhary was going to send to Kathmandu did not have bills, they were seized and submitted to the Kailali customs office in Trinagar for investigation.
"Investigation and action will be taken according to the rules and regulations of the Customs," Spokesperson Bohra said, "On the recommendation of the Customs Office, Chaudhary is under police custody today."
