After the confirmation of cholera infection in two women of Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city-1 of Kailali, a rapid response team has been mobilized in the affected area to prevent the disease.

Ashutosh Shrestha, Head of the District Health Office informed that teams have been mobilized in the affected areas to prevent the spread of cholera. He said, 'Cholera has been suspected in two more children in Ward No. 1, but it is yet to be confirmed.'

Cholera victims have been admitted to Seti Provincial Hospital Dhangadhi for treatment. The rapid response team has started taking samples of drinking water being consumed by the residents of the affected area as well as other countermeasures.

Shrestha said that a written request has been made to the Nepal Water Supply Institute, the Water Supply Division Office and the Office of the Federal Water Supply Project for the purification of distributed water supply.

As cholera can be spread by consumption of contaminated drinking water as well as flies and contaminated food, health workers have requested not to eat such foods. It is suspected that the water pipe has burst due to the construction of the road in the village where cholera has been confirmed, and that is the reason why the water has been contaminated.
