A 35-year-old man from Rolpa Thawang, who killed an elderly neighbor by hitting him with the butt of a loaded gun, has been arrested by the police.

According to the police, 71-year-old Saru Roka of Thawang rural municipality-2 Jajarkot tol was hit on the head by a local 35-year-old Ramkumar Roka with the butt of a loaded gun on Monday afternoon, and the old man died on the spot. The police said that Ramkumar was in possession of an illegally loaded gun and was arrested while intoxicated.

After the incident, a team led by police sub-inspector Gyanendra Bahadur KC arrested Ramkumar, who was involved in the murder. After killing the old man, he was found sleeping in his own house. While searching for him, Bharuwa's gun was found hidden in a bush about 75 meters away from the house.

A police team led by Inspector Krishna Soni was deployed from the area police station in Ghartigaon to further investigate the incident. According to him, Ramkumar, who was arrested, has been charged in the case of duty killing.

The police have reported that there are still illegal weapons in the village and incidents of murder and violence have occurred due to their use. The Rolpa police found and burnt thousands of loaded guns and katuwa pistols while searching for illegal weapons years ago. The conclusion of the police is that illegal weapons have disturbed the peace in the society.
