Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that necessary initiatives will be taken to make Nepalgunj Integrated Checkpoint (ICP) more effective.
He, who was in Nepalgunj during the Lumbini state-level internal training of the Maoist center, inspected the site of Nepalgunj ICP this morning and said, 'A structure worth being proud of has been built, we should all work to make it effective.'
Mentioning that there is a government policy to make ICPs at all checkpoints in the country, he said that the first ICPs may face some problems. Recalling that while he was on a visit to India when he was the Prime Minister, he jointly switched on the Nepalgunj ICP from New Delhi with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and launched it through virtual means. He mentioned that he is always ready for its effective operation.
During the inspection, Purna Prasad Lamsal, Acting Chief Customs Officer of Nepalgunj Customs Office, informed about Nepalgunj ICP. In the ICP, the customs office, bank, animal quarantine, plant quarantine, food technology and quality control office, barracks of Nepal Police and Armed Police have been constructed.
ICP has been constructed in Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan city-16 Jaispur at a cost of 1 billion 47 crore bharu in an area of 88 bighas and has been put into operation. Former finance minister and party deputy general secretary Varshaman Pun and other leaders participated on the occasion.
