A child died on Wednesday after being swept away by the Marsyangdi river in Talgaon, Nason Rural Municipality-1, Manang.

The police said that 5-year-old Arish Gurung, who was a resident of Daman Rural Municipality-5, Palung, Makwanpur, and was currently living with his maternal grandmother, died. According to the District Police Office Manang, a team under the command of Asai Lila Bahadur Thapa was deployed from the police station lake on Wednesday around 12:30 noon when the news came that a child was washed away while playing on the Marsyangdi bank.

The police and locals rescued the child from about 100 meters below the flooded place and brought him to the lake health post.

District Police Office Chief DSP Naresh Kumar Singh informed that the police under the leadership of Police Inspector Chiranjeevi Pandey have been deployed at the scene of the incident and are being brought to District Hospital Chame for post-mortem.
