A young man from Gorkha who went abroad was arrested by the police from Tribhuvan International Airport on the charge of polygamy.
District Police Office Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Kumar Shrestha informed that 28-year-old Suraj Gurung of Arughat village palika-6 was arrested on the charge of polygamy and investigation was started.
'Suraj's elder wife Rita Gurung filed a complaint of polygamy at the district police office on August 23,' he said. .'
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shrestha said that Suraj was arrested from the airport after receiving information that Suraj was going to Qatar for foreign employment to escape from crime. Suraj's elder wife Rita filed a polygamy complaint with the police saying that her husband had married the younger Ghatane Gurung while she was still there.
'After the complaint was filed, permission was obtained from the district court office and arrested on the same day and brought to Gorkha,' Shrestha said. He informed that he will be detained today with permission from the court and further investigation will be started.
