In Baglung last June, July and this month of August, 18 people have died due to floods. Since the second week of June till now, ten men and eight women have died due to floods in different municipalities of the district.

According to District Police Office Baglung, 12 people including six women and six men died in Badigad rural municipality, four people died in Baglung municipality, three men and one woman, and two people died in Galkot municipality, one woman and one man.

Police Inspector Pratap Poudel of District Police Office Baglung said that during the heavy rains this year, landslides buried houses in many places. He informed that 22 people were injured in the landslide. Among the injured, seven are from Badigad Rural Municipality, one from Jaimini Municipality and one from Bareng Rural Municipality, Police Inspector Paudel said. He said that 22 livestock died in the flood. Paudel said that an 11-year-old boy from Badigad rural municipality-10 is still missing.

The flood started causing damage in the district from 15th June last. About 80 families were affected in Badigad of Baglung alone due to the flood. It is estimated that around 150 households have been affected in Nayabasti of Badigad Rural Municipality-9 and Ward No. 10 Arupata, Patle, Klawzhing, Khor, Sallendhara and other districts. The risk remains as the rains have not stopped completely yet.

Gandaki Thapa Adhikari, chairman of Badigad Rural Municipality, said that Badigad has suffered damage due to floods this year. According to him, the rural municipality has provided necessary support to the families affected by the flood and moved them to a safe place, distributed food. He says that the municipality's resources have been managed to the best of their ability and he expects support from the higher authorities.

The presiding officer said that the landslide caused the most damage in Ward No. 10, and the help of the state and central government is needed for the rehabilitation of the displaced families. He said, "This year, an event that we never imagined happened, the flood went to an unexpected place, it has shocked the entire Badigad, as the rain has not yet stopped, we have asked the general public to be alert. We have tried to apply ointment as much as possible to the wounds of the fallen citizens.'
