Under the under construction Muglin-Pokhara road plan, the deadline for the western section has been extended. The deadline for the western section from Tanahun's Jamune to Pokhara is up to August 12, but the deadline was extended by one hundred and one days after the work was not completed.


Engineer Narayan Paudel of Muglin-Pokhara Road Plan West Section informed that a total of 28 percent progress has been achieved up to the previous deadline. In the western section, the agreement was signed on 2nd June 2078 and the work started on 12th August 2078. The Chinese company Yanhui Kaiyuan Highway and Bridge Construction has been entrusted with the construction of this section.

The two-lane road has been paved for 20 kilometers in the western section. Under that section, Myagde Rural Municipality, Shuklagandaki Municipality and Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality are included. According to Paudel, during the same period zero point five Kilometers of road widening work has been done and 95 percent of 'back cutting' has been completed. According to Paudel, while the target was to build 13 bridges during that period, five of them have been completed. Construction of eight bridges has been completed.

According to Paudel, the physical progress of road upgrading has increased from 9 percent to 28 percent with the help and support of construction companies, concerned agencies and the initiative of the planning office in the financial year 2080/81.

He said, 'Some problems were seen from the beginning in the upgrading of this highway, which is located in Nepal's most rainy area. After the work started, the design of the Jamunu to Seti bridge section was changed in view of the new international airport built in Pokhara.'

According to Poudel, the pipelines and structures related to 24 water supply organizations within the area where the road is to be upgraded have been transferred from the concerned consumers.

Similarly, one thousand two hundred thirty-six electricity poles out of two thousand thirty-one poles have been transferred through the Nepal Electricity Authority's agency, with the planning office bearing the cost. After the increase in traffic on the road, which was planned in the year 2026, the road is going to be made four-lane with the loan support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The contract for the western section is worth 7 billion 40 million 46 million rupees.
