Relief assistance to flood victims in Lamjung

Lamjung Service Committee Hong Kong, through Liaison Committee Lamjung has supported the families of 5 people who died in the flood, the injured, the homeless and the displaced. From the money sent by the Lamjung Service Committee through Hong Kong, the deceased family has been transferred to the victim's family at the rate of 1 lakh rupees.

Rs 1/1 lakh to the families whose houses were completely damaged by the landslide, Rs 40/40 thousand to the families displaced due to the landslide with partial damage, Rs 23/23 thousand to the injured, Rs 20 thousand to those displaced due to risk.

According to Meena Gurung, President of the Lamjung Contact Committee, 1123 thousand 540 rupees collected and sent by 127 people from Hong Kong to Lamjung House was handed over to the victim's family on Friday. Last June 11, 4 people died in Kholasonthar Rural Municipality 3, Bagum and 1 person died in Dordi Rural Municipality 9, Hilletxar.

37-year-old Panchkumari Gurung, her 5-year-old daughter Nishma Gurung, 70-year-old Rudraman Gurung and her relative 9-year-old Ichcha Gurung died in the landslide. Similarly, 16-year-old Vikal Sunar of Dordi Rural Municipality 9, Hilletxar Dhaireni Sunargaon died. Bhim Bahadur Ghale of Bagum and Milan Sunar of Dhaireni Sunargaon were injured in the flash flood.

3 houses in Bagum were swept away by landslides. In Dordi, one house is at high risk of landslides and in Kholasonthar, 5 houses are at risk and the families have been displaced. Dulumaya Gurung of Kholasonthar was displaced after being at risk of landslides, and 20,000 rupees has been given to him. The remaining Rs 17,500 has been given to Niraj Gurung of Bagum, who lost both his family and his home.

Dordi Rural Municipality Chairman Yuvraj Adhikari, Kholasonthar Rural Municipality Chairman Surya Prasad Gurung, Lamjung Service Committee Hong Kong, Liaison Committee Lamjung Guardian Zamindraman Ghale, President Meena Gurung, Secretary Meghendra Pokharel, Joint Secretary of Lamjung Service Committee Hong Kong Dinesh Gurung, Working Committee Member Pushpadevi Gurung, Former working committee member Tilak Bahadur Chhetri and others handed over the relief money.

Ram Bahadur Gurung, the former adviser of Lamjung Service Committee Hong Kong, said that after he went to Hong Kong, Lamjunges gradually started coming to Hong Kong and Lamjunge formed the Service Committee. "The organization that we started has started helping the sick, the helpless and those who are in emergency," he said.

Asbir Gurung, Ward Chairman of Kholasonthar Rural Municipality 3 and Ashish Tamang, Ward Chairman of Dordi Rural Municipality 9, said that the victims' families got great relief from the support received.
