Magar language training for mother tongue preservation

In order to protect the mother tongue of the Magar community and also to inform the new generation, training on the Magar language has been conducted at Adikavi Bhanubhakta Campus in Damauli of the district. The campus has started training by including the mother tongue of the Magar community in the supplementary curriculum.

18 campus students and 12 community students and 30 young people from the Magar community have been made to participate in the training. 19-year-old Binita Thapa of Bhanu Municipality-6 Garathok, who participated in the training because she is willing to speak and learn the Magar language, says. Now, after taking this training, I will also be able to speak with them in Magar language.'

Similarly, 57-year-old Man Bahadur Bagale from Chokune Rural Municipality-1 Surkhet, who came to study the language for a certificate, says Magar. More than half of the Magar community do not understand and do not speak their own language. There are about 3,100 students in that campus, 900 Magar community students are studying.
