Parents have locked down in Vimsen Thapa Rural Municipality to protest against the reduction of teacher posts. Protesting against the transfer of science teacher Raju Nepali of Dullab High School of Vimsen Thapa-1, the parents locked down the village hall on Sunday.
Nepali, who is also an assistant principal, has been transferred to Siddhakali Mavi by the rural municipality. Chairman of the school management committee, Rosen Gurung, said that the lockout was held in protest against the planned reduction of posts and the transfer of teachers.
"This transfer is not according to the rules, the posts should be reduced based on the number of students, only Dullab has been cut," he said.
He said that although he reached the rural municipality for discussion on Sunday, none of the chairman, vice-chairman or chief administrative officer was found. "We will go to the municipality tomorrow, the demand of the parents is that the posts have been cut, it has to be stopped," he said.
Yan Prasad Nepalil, the education officer of the education, youth and sports branch of the rural municipality said that the teacher was transferred after a decision was made by the executive meeting of the rural municipality.
