The Nepal Disaster Management Training Academy of the Armed Police Force (APF) in Chitwan Kurintar has started training to prepare volunteer rescuers for disaster rescue from Sunday.

93 students of Pragati Pathshala in Kurintar from classes 8 to 12 have participated in the training. The training will continue till Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent of Armed Police (SSP) Madhav Prasad Paudel, headmaster of the school, and Tank Tripathi, principal of Prakriti Pathshala jointly inaugurated the training. SSP Poudel said that the government is planning to conduct such training for students in all the eight divisions of the armed police and prepare 500 volunteer rescuers. In the

training, the students will be trained in the areas of disaster management, the role of armed police in disaster management, search, rescue and treatment in disasters such as fire, flood and earthquake. SSP Paudel said that the training will be helpful to efficiently mobilize the community in the disaster.
