The budget announced on Saturday through the 15th Municipal Assembly has decreased by Rs 62 crore from the current financial year. In the current financial year, the revised budget of the metropolis is 3.51 billion rupees.

Metropolitan Municipality's Deputy Chief Imtiaz Alam said that in the current financial year, the equalization grant amount is 25 percent withheld from the last quarter, revenue distribution has decreased due to the contraction in revenue collection of the federal government, due to the slowdown in real estate business, the income source of real estate registration has also decreased, and the size of the budget for the next financial year has to be reduced. tell

'Additional grant money has not been received from the provincial government in the form of conditional grants and special grants,' Deputy Chief Alam said, 'due to which overall revenue mobilization has not been as per the target, it is difficult to work.'

Although the budget has decreased compared to the current financial year, he said that the budget includes special programs to make Birgunj beautiful, advanced and prosperous in the coming financial year. In the budget for the next financial year presented in the Municipal Assembly, 2.4 billion 46.6 million or 70.7 percent has been allocated for current expenses, while 81.8 million 8 thousand or 28.1 percent of the budget has been allocated for capital expenses.

For the next financial year, among the sources that the metropolis will bear expenses, there are 790 million 75 million from internal revenue, 1 billion 279 million from the financial transfer of the Government of Nepal, and 26 million 80 million from the federal revenue distribution.

Similarly, the metropolis has reported that the budget has been managed by spending 53.5 million from provincial intergovernmental financial transfers, 28 million from provincial revenue sharing and 100 million from cash balance.

Metropolitan Chief Rajeshman Singh presided over the session and the Chief Administrative Officer of the Metropolitan Municipality, Matrika Bhattarai, all 32 ward chairpersons of the Metropolitan Municipality, ward committee members and employees participated.
