The Election Commission has proposed to hold by-elections at the local level on the 16th of November. On Sunday, officials of the commission met Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and proposed to hold by-elections on November 16.
During the discussion, Prime Minister Oli said that the government is ready for the by-elections as per the proposal of the commission and requested to advance the preparations. Prime Minister Oli said that the Cabinet meeting that will be held now will set the date of the by-election.
Prime Minister Oli said that the government should fix the date as soon as possible and requested to create an environment to conduct the elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner. After the
discussion, Election Commission Chief Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapalia said that the proposal to hold local level by-elections on November 16 has been submitted to the government. We have proposed to the government to hold by-elections on November 16 The Prime Minister has asked to proceed with the preparations,' he said. In the
discussion, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Vishnu Prasad Paudel, Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal and others participated in the discussion. According to the
commission, there are currently 41 vacant seats including 2 district coordination committee heads, 2 rural village presidents, 4 vice presidents, 10 ward presidents and 1 municipal mayor, 1 deputy mayor and 21 ward presidents.
