The report of the Enlightened Persons Group (EPG) formed by the governments of Nepal and India has gone far beyond the level of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to understand and discuss the Nepal-India border dispute at the ambassadorial level. Shankar Prasad Sharma said.

In response to the questions raised by the parliamentarians at the Parliamentary Hearing Committee meeting of the Federal Parliament on Sunday, Sharma said that the EPG report and the border dispute with India have gone too far.

After the preparation of the EPG report, Nepal and India have visited each other at a high level and discussed and mentioned that they have reached much higher than the level of the ambassador.

In response to the question raised by the parliamentarians at the meeting of the parliamentary hearing committee, Sharma said, "Whether it is about EPG or about the border, because the EPG and the border have gone far above my (ambassador's) level."

Sharma said that the Nepal government should separate the issues that can be done on EPG. What can we do within the EPG? Let's not do those things! Why should we just stick to that ? If we stay stuck there, we may not be able to do other economic coordination work, I will continue to push it,' he said.

His suggestion was to identify the Nepal-India border problem and solve it one by one.

Sharma had previously claimed to have played an important role in the trilateral power export agreement with Bangladesh for Nepal's electricity purchase agreement while he was working as India's ambassador.
