Kanchan Basnet stood first in the poetry competition organized by Bhasha Mavi of Dhankuta on the occasion of Motiram Bhatt's birth anniversary. Basnet became the first among 51 participants in the competition named 'Poetry in School'.

In the competition, the second place was won by Ashika Rai and the third place by Neetu Shahi. Among the 51 participants in the competition, 20 were male and 31 were female poets. But in the competition, all the students won the prize. Govind Rai, the principal of the organizing school, said that only the first to third places will be awarded.

Basnet, who won the first place, received five thousand in cash and a certificate. Rai, who came second, got three and Shahi, who got third place, got a certificate with two thousand cash. Machhapuchhre Bank sponsored the prize for the competition. On this occasion, 19 prominent poets of Dhankuta also recited poems. Chintan Tamang, Head of Dhankuta Municipality, Mohan Rai, Head of Education Development and Co-ordination Unit, etc. gave prizes to the participants.
