Rukum East's 'Gharzwai' and 'Khusma'

Rukum is going to reach the audience through the beautiful geography, original language, art, culture and organic lifestyle of the East.

It is hoped that the movie 'Gharzwain', which is going to be screened from Friday, and the movie 'Khusma', which is going to be screened from October 3, will make Rukum East known nationally and internationally. Anil Budha Magar, the director of 'Gharzwain', said that he was proud to show his district on the big screen for the first time, despite appearing in various short films and documentaries.

Most of the filming of 'Gharzwai', which premiered last Tuesday, was done in Taksera in Rukum East, while some parts were done in and around Lakum village in Rukum East and Dhorpatan in Baglung. Director Magar said that the response after the premiere show made him optimistic. "The story of Gharzwain movie is based on the traditional lifestyle here," producer Janak Gharti said, "Now we are showing Sundar Rukum Purva in the movie."

'Gharzwai' has Dayahang Rai and Miruna Magar in lead roles. The movie also stars Shishir Wangdel, Raj Thapa Magar, Kavita Ale, Buddhi Tamang and Sunil Magar. 'Khusma' stars Dheeraj Magar and Upasana Singh Thakuri in lead roles. Directed by Ashok Thapa, the producers of this movie are Bir Bahadur Lama, Chandra Bhattachan, Betane Magar and Man Bahadur Dhana Magar. About 70 percent of this movie has been shot in and around Makot in Rukum East.

'Lumba' which won 7 national and international awards in 2012 and 'Agre' (The Iron Digger) which won 13 national and international awards in 2022 is directed by Anil Budha Magar. Gharzwaiin' is his first movie.

We have put all the effort into it. That's why there has been a positive response from the beginning to the premiere show,' director Magar said, 'It is more important whether the movie could be made as intended and what it gave, than how much the movie earns.' And this is the debut film of the director of 'Khusma', Ashok Thapa, who worked as a co-producer of the movie 'Nirphool'.

He claims that this film tells the story of all Nepalis, even though it was filmed with the Magar race and the geography of Rukum East as the center. Actor Dayahang Rai praised the beauty of this place, while actress Miruna Magar also expressed her happiness that Rukum came to East and acted in a character here and responded that it is a 'virgin land' for film shooting.

Dheeraj Magar, the hero of the movie 'Khusma', is also born in Rukum East. He said that his place of birth was in the Upper Sera of Puthauttarganga and he entered the city from here with his mother when he was two years old. "I am very happy to come to my birthplace as a movie hero," he said, "I am blessed to return to my birthplace."
