Former students of Mandala Theater are organizing a new theater festival. The play to be organized from June 21 to 23 is named 'Mad Fest-2024'.

I remember talking to Dayahang Rai about this festival right here on the roof of Mandala. When we young people were asking how it would be to do such a festival together, Dayadai encouraged us by saying, "Don't dare". Today what was thought then is coming true. The play to be staged is almost ready, said Anup Newpan, the director of the festival. This is the first edition of the

festival. According to Anup, this kind of festival is also planned to find opportunities for former students who have learned acting. Made . In the

festival, it is said that there will be interactive programs in different genres such as news dramas, poetry, music performances, panel discussions on various topics, along with 6 plays made by young artists. In the

festival, 'Railway to Nowhere', 'Mirror', 'Silpini', 'Nugdha', 'Agam' and 'Ankuran' have been selected for staging. Director Neupane said that social contemporary issues and experimental absurd dramas were selected. At the

festival, six plays have been selected for staging through a 15-day production workshop by choosing eight stories from 18 stories. As this is the first edition of the festival, the team from Mandla is currently included, but in the next edition, the festival team plans to connect with theaters and artists from all over Nepal.

The organizing team believes that this kind of festival can provide access, build knowledge, provide opportunities for creation and establish an atmosphere of cooperation for the young generation.
