Nepal has achieved historic success in the 65th International Mathematics Olympiad held in Bath, UK. In this competition, which included 609 students from 108 countries, Kritesh Dhakal and Shreyas Sharma Bastola from Nepal got one Honorable Mention (HM) each.

6 students from Nepal competed in Mathematics Olympiad. The team leader of Nepal and general secretary of Nepal Mathematics Association Chhabi Dhungana informed Kantipur that Saugat Dhakal, Rahul Bhujel, Dron Chaudhary and Munna Bhandari are among the other competing students.

Nepal Mathematics Association selected 6 students out of more than 3000 students from various stages of selection. Deputy leader of the team Narayan Paudel, coach Prajit Adhikari and team coordinator and vice president of the organization Hari Prapann Kandel also came to UK with the students.

The competition held from July 11 to 22 is considered to be the world's largest educational competition. The competition, which started from Romania in 1959, is held every year in July. Nepal has been participating every year since the 58th tournament held in Brazil in 2017.

The 66th edition of the competition among under-20 students from all over the world is scheduled to be held in Australia in July next year.
